thinking about it, you could block it from a higher level, such as the router?? Some routers are quite powerful when it comes to blocking stuff... very router dependent though, could involve buying...

depending on the bios, you could stop media from running by disabling it from booting from certain media... cds and usbs

dont worry, i dont think ubuntu can do it this way, i will use udev

nah i was in the nautilus setting earlier, software and 'unix software' in the settings both say no applications found, if there a conf somewhere where i can add applications for nautilus to launch?

autorun is on in gconf-editor in the nautilus section, but it doesnt have a program to load the script if you get what i mean...
